The sun is shining, the boats are getting clean, and we are ready to be back on the water in the Salish Sea!
We started opening the shop at the beginning of May and things are falling back into place. Every winter we close up shop, clean and organize everything to sit over the winter. Coming back in the spring and unpacking always feels very nostalgic of summers past. Once the hammock goes up in the cherry tree and all the vans are parked and ready to go – it really feels like the beginning of summer.
We kicked off training with our new and returning guide staff. We’re stoked to welcome Maddy, Andy, Carl, Eli, and Leah into our family as first year guides this year! Our senior staff is ready to do it all again with Sam, Maddie, Justin, Ivy, and Eveyln! Training was a healthy mix of dry land, medical, shop operations, and on water skills. This time of year can be either rain, wind, or beaming sunshine- so far we’ve lucked out with 70+ degree weather for the past couple days already making for some awesome paddling weather to practice rescues getting in and out of the boats (and work on our sandal tans).
This will be Outdoor Odysseys 37th season operating and guiding out in the San Juan Islands. Being able to paddle in these waters, share good food, experiences and quality time with new and old friends truly is magic. The kind of magic we want to share, so come join us!
Can’t wait to see you soon-
The OO Team
